Would you be willing to do a review of the Wrist rascal? When used properly people have found it very beneficial.
Sounds interesting. Keep in mind I would be doing an honest review, and it would be at least a month before I would post it, as I would want to thoroughly test it.
Things4Strings makes some neat attachments for that. For Violin & Viola we have the bow hold buddies. For Cello & Double Bass (French Bass Bow), we have the CelloPhant.
What do you have for double jointed pinkies.
@@FiddleKat The Holdfish of the Bow Hold Buddies has a hole to help w/ holding it
The Cello Bow grip also applies to french bass bow
thank you so much!
Beautiful ❤😊
Hope you heal up soon

To slur or not to slur, that is the question.
Lol
I my struggles with using the Virtuoso Wrist Aid led me to your video. I followed your suggestion to try a tomato pincushion and it was perfect. As a long time cello player and new time violinist, I have been struggling with my wrist position for months. So far, the pincushion is really working. Thanks!
Great. I'm glad that helped.
Nice
Thanks
The violin is so much better
Both were actually the Viola. What was it about the other you like better? Tonality, pitch ...?
Beautiful tone
Thanks. I'm really enjoying these new strings. They sound awesome on the violin as well.
@@FiddleKat I mainly listen to bluegrass/country fiddle but it is good to see this in the mix
Should be ritaroundo not rotando. Lol
Thanks!
And using the sustain pedal.
I have honestly tried to play staccato while the damper pedal is pressed, and have yet to be able to make it sound like a staccato.
Thanks 🙏🏽
This is because the force you use impacts how much force the hammers hit the interior strings with
Correct. This was for my students who are still learning about dynamics.
@@FiddleKat Teach well, I wish you all good luck in this long journey
@@Miryks07 Thank you. Are you a science teacher or scientists?
@@kathymangum8707 No, I just like piano
@@Miryks07 Cool. I was hoping you were, because I think it would make an interesting video, talking about the science of music.

Wow great video! I think i might know you do you know someone called candis?
Not right offhand, that I can think of. But I know a ton of people. However, I have been on UA-cam for over 10 years, so you may have seen me pop up now and then.
@@FiddleKat CANDIS NUTS FIT IN YOUR MOUTH HAHAHA GET REKT
I need to backtrack on what I said. One of my friends mentioned a coworker that we had a few years ago with that name. I wasnt there as much as him at the time and thats why I'm thinking I might not have recognized your name.
@@FiddleKat It's a joke 😑
is it ok if you shift to 6th pos instead of 7th?
or could u shift to 5th and play extended 4 for the last C?
@@emi8651 You can go into 6th position. And ten years later, I probably would go with 6th over 7th position. I don't know that I would recommend going into 5th and extending the 4th finger, as you would need to know exactly where to place it. Keep in mind, in 5th position, your finger would naturally land on the A, not the B. A normal extension would give you a B. You would want to be extremely accurate when reaching for a C. Could it be done, yes, but I don't think I would go that route. ---edit: Apparently I had a brain freeze when I posted this message. I'm not sure how I got 4th and 5th position confused, but I did. Please forgive me. Anyway, yes, you can do 5th position here.
@@FiddleKat okay! thank you so much!
@@emi8651 I'm posting this as a separate reply, in addition to adding this to my initial post, in hopes you see this. Apparently, I had a brain freeze when I posted this message. @@FiddleKat LOL no worries! thank you again
Oh my gosh. I had a hard time understanding what this meant while reading and watching a few other videos but this helped a ton. Thank you!
I'm glad this helped.
THE BEST EXPLANATION SO FAR!!! THANKS!
Thank you so much, this really helped!
What are the differences between playing slur and legato?
Legato just means to play smooth and connected. Slurring is basically the same thing. However, with bowed instruments, such as the violin, it's bowing two or more notes in one bow stroke. Or with brass, no articulation. So with the piano, when you play legato, you are really just slurring.

My faces, or intonation. And yes, I sometimes leave mistakes in on purpose, but usually, you can tell I know them, with the faces I make.
@@FiddleKat Oh no! I put that there for myself I have region this year! :) I think you play just fine. Thank you for this video!
Is this a joke or? Are you people actually in need of this explanation which is ok but- theres books about this? I resd thst what
And you are probably not the intended audience for this video. Have a good night.
A book can only provide for so much information. It cannot provide sounds, or anything visual and I for one like to wrap my head around this visually. Clearly though, books never taught you about punctuation or spelling, so maybe you should get off your high horse.
While I commend you for your ability to simply read a book and know exactly what it's talking about, maybe spare a moment for those of us who lack that ability and reply as empathetic person (or not reply at all) instead of showing the world that you're a snarky asshole. Just an idea.
you're right - BUT APPLICATION OF EVERY READER IS DIFFERENT - this is the best explanation so far!!!
Mans really salty people are learning
Now that's called Short and Precise
Ikr, some people have it sounding so complicated
I've played clarinet, e flat horn, French horn, and I think hitting the low C on soprano recorder is the hardest thing to master that I've ever come across musically. Thanks for the tips. I'll keep trying.
First time playing in months, after dealing with a hand injury, and then later a spider bite.
The two white keys directly together on a piano are the notes that are a half step apart. E and F on a piano are those two white keys. Try it.
That would have made a great graphic for this video. Will remember that for the next time, as I'm considering redoing this series soon.
So helpful
Glad it was helpful!
👍🏻👍🏻
He clearly likes it!
What is the deference of the glissando?
Glissandos are a type of ornamentation, that helps to take a song from basic, to not so basic, and is played quickly, to where the notes frequently blur with each other. For piano, we usually do them mainly on the white keys or blacks keys, Harps would mainly do Diatonic. This is because the chromatic glissandos, that other instruments can do, is not so easily done, if not impossible on these two instruments, and because of how they are structured. Chromatic glissandos would be every tone from one note to the next. Ex. A, Bb, B, C, Db, D, Eb, and so forth. Where as, diatonics, are not every tone, but every step from one note to the next. A, B, C, D, E, etc. Also, on string instruments, both are usually fingered, unlike slides, which are also chromatic. Hopefully this helps
Old vid, but the only one I could find that actually demonstrates the difference! Pretty much every other vid/book just describes what a slur/legato is, which yeah..... if music could be explained easily in text, we wouldn't bother with songs, we'd just have the artist stand on stage and describe the song to us. This has made me realise that i've been playing everything slurred without realising.... which I will need to work on
Super! Keep up the great work. Take a look at smzeus . c o m!!! It’s a very powerful tool, you can promote all of your social media profiles, UA-cam videos etc!!
Nicely done
When you mean skip it, do you mean skip the whole measure?
Yes, skip the whole measure for the first ending. If it's multiple measures in that ending, you would also skip them.
@@FiddleKat thanks!
Wow. So i played legato without even knowing. I taught the sound of not legato sounds wrong.
Congrats. It depends on the song. Sometimes you want staccato, sometimes detached and Anand sometimes leggatto. It's all in the markings and style of the song. The more you know about a sound, the better you can understand.
Ya same here
Simple nd effectice thanx
Thanks
Can you do A&D three octaves too?
Let me see what I can do.
Excellent video content! Sorry for chiming in, I would love your opinion. Have you considered - Riddleagan Possessing Piano Remedy (search on google)? It is a great one off guide for learning how to play the piano easily without the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my cousin got cool success with it.
There's not much info I can find on it. However, explain how it works. If it's what I think, it might be similar the method books we use at the studio, which when utilized correctly, most students learn pretty quickly.
